Last of the Love Sonnets

Marjorie Razorblade Is | Marjorie Razorblade | Old uns | Real Life Poetry | Moments of Clarity | Forever consigned to the 'Old Poetry File' | Last of the Love Sonnets

Ah....the end of the Love Sonnets....it was so nice while it lasted.......

*rumages in kitchen drawer for carving knife...finds potato peeeler...resigns to peeling self to death...*

Beautiful Loss
*************
Such a beautiful thing in withered hands
And time and no man shifts the sands
I stop the tide and walk on fire
And long for you my hearts desire
Still beating with the fuel of rage
No point to turn the lonely page
Stranded here I suck my thumb
I'd call you but you'd never come.

I watch as he leaves
*****************
The leaf blew in the treetop
And whispered out your name
As wind howled through the forest
And silence never came
I watch you fall and wonder where
I should lay my wreathes
As death comes quickly for you
In a pile of autumn leaves.

The Whispering
****************
Sometimes I can still hear your voice...

I think about it whispering in my ear
But I can never make out what you're trying to say
I sometimes used to pretend to be asleep
So I could hear you say
"See you in the morning beautiful one"
But then, I'd always be thinking about saying that to someone else
And now
No-one whispers
And with hindsight, I should have opened my eyes and smiled.

Heart
*******
The heart is a funny thing;
Not capable of direct feeling,
Living merely as an extension of emotion, in ventricles and valves
And i've stayed awake at night analysing mine,
Sunsets and Oceans have brought it no satisfaction
Words are of no consequence,
And fingers cold to touch never penetrate
Maybe i'm turning cynical
I ask my heart,
Is it any wonder?

Freedom
****************
My eyes shielded from burning sun
The day of freedom at last had come
I let you go but still you stay,
I pushed you so you'd fly away,
I took the rope removed the ring
You screeched and lifted up your wing
I'll love you till the day I die
Be brave embrace your urge to fly.

Sonnet
********
The consellation prize
A sonnet wrapped between the thighs
With death and pity in his eyes
A sonnet for the taking
I chose the angel of the skies.
A walking bible
And upon my arrival
Such shame
For my name of love
To be taken so in vain.
A sonnet with messages
Delivered too late
And words are only words
And actions act to demonstrate
Second place
Is no place at all
And I listen to my instincts call
And I'm a danger to myself
For a sonnet

I always fall.
